What is Yoga Nidra?
Yoga nidra is a form of deep guided relaxation. This type of meditation is usually practiced lying down and contains instruction with enough space in between instructions. In this type of meditation, expect calm instructions for your body to feel heavier than usual and for your mind to wander somewhere between waking and sleeping. Translated as “yogic sleep” the goal of yoga Nidra is not to induce sleep, but to put the body and mind into a state of active rest – meaning the mind is still alert and the body is in a state of relaxation. Yoga Nidra is a meditation practice that is accessible for anyone at any level of practice.
